Alana Marie Kasten walked over an aisle strewn with white and pink rose petals and became the wife of Marc Bryan Sonenshine under an art-deco chuppah on Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the Atlanta Westin Hotel.

The Orthodox ceremony was performed by Rabbis Adam Frank and Eli Fishman. It was a special occasion for Rabbi Fishman, who came from New Jersey for the wedding. He also married Alana's mother and father.

Alana was joined under the chuppah by her parents, Stan and Helen Kasten, and bridesmaids Samantha Sirlin and Annette Werbler. Marc stood with his parents, Debra and Kenneth, who also served as best man.

Corey and Jay Kasten, Alana's brothers, and Stephen and Adam Sonenshine, Marc's brothers, were the groomsmen.

The wedding party also included Klari Weisz, Alana's great grandmother; Tina Weisz, Alana's grandmother; Annette and Robert Robbins and Mickey and Irving Sonenshine, Marc's grandparents; and ring bearer Noah Kasten, Alana's brother.

The ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour (featuring a lamb chop hors d'oeuvre) and a kosher dinner and dance for about 300 guests, highlighted by the traditional ride above the crowd for the bride and groom and their parents.

Festivities began Friday with a southern "picnic" on the lawn of the Kasten residence and was followed by a family-style Italian dinner at Maggiano's at Perimeter, hosted by Debbie and Kenneth. Saturday morning, the Ufruf ceremony took place at the B'nai Torah synagogue and was followed by a Kiddush luncheon, hosted by Marc's grandparents. Marc's grandfather, Irving, read the entire Torah portion.

A hospitality room luncheon -- described by Kenneth as a "light Jewish lunch" --was hosted by Bernice and Sidney Breibart, Linda and Tom Chambers, Teddi and David Robbins, Nancy and Gerald Sonenshine, and Debbie and Stanley Sonenshine.

After a honeymoon in Bermuda, Marc and Alana will live in Augusta where he attends medical school.
